Village™

20 October 2026 · John Stroh, Director, My Digital Sovereignty Ltd

What it is

Village is a members-only community and organisation platform, built and operated by My Digital Sovereignty Ltd (MDSL) in New Zealand, with data held in New Zealand or the EU. One flat monthly price covers a whole Village (200 members included, no per-seat fee), and the same platform is configured for families, clubs, small businesses and governance bodies through a per-type vocabulary.

Every Village has member directory, channels, events, polls and voting, documents, video calls (self-hosted Jitsi), a constitution log and an AI assistant (Village AI). Above that sit the products that differ from mainstream community tools: deliberation and decision records (Village Assembly, Open Floor), available on request and opt-in per Village. Deliberation Village and Consolidated Village Consensus are also deployed, priced per engagement and arranged with MDSL; at the 12 October count they were switched on for demonstration use only. For the Civic Assembly App, one demonstration round is set up; it is not on the price list and no price has been set. Also invoicing and quoting for operating organisations (Business Village), and federation between Villages that each choose to join.

Published pricing: NZ$44, NZ$79 and NZ$114 per month for the three listed-price tiers; governance and regulated tiers are priced per engagement, arranged directly with MDSL for now. Village is available by paid subscription through checkout. Free evaluation is by a one-time token from MDSL.

The buyer is an organisation that wants its members' conversation, decisions and records on infrastructure it can name, in a jurisdiction it chose, rather than on a US-owned SaaS.

Built vs roadmap

The core platform is sold on the pricing page; the deliberation layers (Village Assembly and Open Floor) are deployed and opt-in per Village, and Peppol sending depends on an external access point. Status as of 20 October 2026, taken from the product's code, the build plan and the status page, not from a check of the live systems. Established by AI agents; no person has checked every line (see the status page).

Capability Status What it means for a customer
Members-only platform, each Village kept separate (directory, channels, events, polls, documents) Live The everyday community tool
Video calls (self-hosted Jitsi) Live Calls without a US video vendor
Pricing tiers and capacity limits (200 members; 10/10/50 GB; 500/500/2,000 video minutes) Built and enforced Flat price, no per-seat fee
Payments through Airwallex (NZ) (VIL-19) Live One payment provider, not a US processor
Village AI (FAQ retrieval; fuller AI included at the top tier, add-on below it) Live Assistant grounded in the Village's own content
Data-rights requests with deadlines (VIL-20); a copy of your own data, collected from the data-rights page when the request completes (VIL-22); Village content export for owners, administrators and moderators, through the programming interface only and with no screen (VIL-23) Live. No real request has completed in production yet; the data-rights page is only partly translated A member can file a request, see the deadline and download the file; an owner, administrator or moderator can export the Village’s records through the programming interface
Direct messages, transport-encrypted Live. Not end-to-end encrypted: the server can read message content Direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted
Federation between Villages (VIL-21; off by default; both Villages agree and each member opts in) Live Villages link without merging membership
Open Floor (members raise their own topics; synthesis) Live; opt-in per Village, set up by MDSL on request; no self-serve checkout Members raise their own ideas and a minority idea survives whole
Village Assembly (deliberation with a kept record) Live; opt-in per Village, set up by MDSL on request; no real sealed deliberation is on record yet Rehearsal of an argument with the record kept, then a human phase to decide
Chained, signed proof records for edits Built; chain linking was switched on platform-wide on 24 September 2026 and applies to records written from then, for the record types that use it Signed entries exist; where linking applies, a removed or reordered entry becomes detectable
Business Village: quoting, invoicing, PDF, recurring invoices Live Operational suite for an operating organisation
Peppol e-invoice file reading, checking and filing (VIL-12) Built Village can read, check and file a Peppol-format (PINT A-NZ) e-invoice file that a signed-in Business user uploads. It does not receive invoices from the Peppol network, and live sending is not connected; delivery from the network, and live sending, depend on an approved Peppol access point being in place and are not on offer.
Five interface languages (en, de, fr, nl, mi) Live Available in five languages
Governance and regulated tiers (governance queue, audit retention, assurance artefacts) Offered per engagement; governance queue, audit retention and assurance artefacts are planned By arrangement, not a listed product

The full participant one-pager, with the competitive landscape and the risks and open decisions, is shared in the private room, to named people, with a record of who opened it. Write to john.stroh@mysovereignty.digital to be invited.
